Three ways to teach you how to choose the right fabric

Today, there are too many fabrics on the market. So how to pick the right fabric becomes a top priority. Here are three ways to teach everyone.

Hand-feeling method

The first is the simplest and most convenient method. Look through the eyes, nose, and hand to determine the form, luster, strength, and odor of the fabric. For example, the hemp fiber feels rough; the wool fiber is curled and elastic; the silk is a filament and has a special luster; the spandex is extremely elastic and the like; and the good fabric generally does not have a large taste. This method is only applicable to people who have rich experience in fabrics, and it is still a bit difficult for ordinary people.

Combustion method

Depending on the chemical composition of the fibers, the combustion characteristics are also different, and the judgment is made by observing the burning characteristics, odors, and residues of the fabric in proximity to the flame, in the fire line, and after leaving the flame. According to this method, textile fibers can be roughly classified into three types: cellulosic fibers, protein fibers, and synthetic fibers. For example, cellulose, such as cotton, hemp, viscose, modal, lyocell, and cuprammonium, will not melt when approaching a flame, and will burn papery when burned; protein fibers such as wool, mulberry silk, and tussah, etc. Burning hair odor when burning; Polyester burning with black smoke, sweet smell; Acrylic burning pungent smell; Nylon when the nylon burning; And when the acetate fiber burning more obvious acetic acid and so on. This method is suitable for single-component fibers, yarns, and fabrics, and can be used as an auxiliary judgment method for blended products.

Dissolution method

Because of the different chemical composition of the fibers, their dissolution properties are different for the same chemical solvents. For those fibers that are difficult to distinguish, this method may be used to judge. For example, for indistinguishable polyester and nylon, a drop of hydrochloric acid can be used; acrylic and polyester, a drop of nitric acid will do.

The above three methods can quickly and better identify the quality of the fabric. You can identify more carefully in the process of buying fabrics, and you can buy the best products with less money.
