Old pit glass type jade: transparency is like glass, full transparency, light transmittance of 10mm or more. Less impurities, crystal clear, fine texture, pure and flawless, the color is pure, bright, rich, uniform emerald green; jade grain is very thin, it is very difficult to see the "green" in the naked eye; it is the top or the best in jade.

Imitation jade glass and jade are very different and easy to identify. The main differences are as follows:
(1) The color of imitation jade glass tends to be relatively uniform. If there is a ribbon, it is usually flowing.
(2) Bubbles are often seen in imitation jade glass, especially in the early stage. The bubbles are very obvious. The bubbles of imitation jade glass with better modern production process are relatively small, and can be seen with a 10x magnifying glass and flashlight illumination. It is mostly pinkish green.
(3) Another glass called "South African Jade", with a slight enlargement, can see the pattern of fern plants.
(4) The relative density of glass is small (about 2.5), which is much lighter than jade. The refractive index is generally about 1.54 (but sometimes it is beautifully colored by adding other chemical elements, and the refractive index will vary greatly from 1.4 to 1.7). Shell-shaped fracture; fluorescence is optional.
There is also a type called "devitrified glass". Appeared around the 1970s and 1980s, the Jade Story Jewelry Institute called this imitation jade glass "Imoristone" or "Metajade". After devitrification, the amorphous glass portion is "recrystallized", and the naked eye looks like a cotton, and is shaped like a crystalline aggregate. However, the devitrified glass has a refractive index of only 1.50 to 1.52, a density of 2.40 to 2.50 g/cm3, a Mohs hardness of 5, and a shell-like fracture. The devitrified green glass has a radial (or grass-like) mosaic pattern visible under the naked eye, which makes it easy to distinguish it from jade.
